A Message from the Executive Director

The Alpha Kappa Alpha Educational Advancement Foundation, Inc. (EAF) was formed in 1980, based on an already existing tradition within Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. of giving and sharing with communities throughout the world. "The Mission of the Alpha Kappa Alpha Educational Advancement Foundation is to promote lifelong learning. This is accomplished by securing charitable contributions, gifts and endowed funds to award scholarships, fellowships and grants."Here we are 29 years later, excited and enthused about continuing our journey toward the accomplishment of our mission.
EAF was started with a vision of the future and $10,000. We have grown into a million-dollar Foundation, which has worked to enrich the lives of thousands of individuals and communities. To date,we have awarded more than $1.7 million in scholarships and community awards to over 1,700 individuals and community organizations. The work of EAF continues to have an impact on the society that we live in and plays an important role in shaping the lives of all those that it touches.
As we move toward the celebration of 30 years of service, let us remember that although we have made significant strides in touching the lives of so many, our work is not yet over. The new millennium is filled with many challenges for EAF and the past, present and future recipients of our scholarships, fellowships and grants. Let us continue to take our charge very seriously, as we work even harder to insure that EAF continues to be the premier organization that it has become.
